About

Misael Sine

Misael Sine is a Finnish-Indonesian film director born in Jakomäki, Finland, raised in Bandung, Indonesia, and now based in Helsinki. With deep insights into youth subcultures, street fashion, and audiovisual branding, Misael has collaborated with global brands such as Porsche, OM-System, KONE, Telia, Neste, Toyota, Wilfa, and Olympus.

Growing up between two cultures, Misael often felt caught between worlds, neither fully accepted as Finnish nor Indonesian. Over time, this duality became his strength, shaping a unique perspective and a profound appreciation for diversity. Today, he celebrates his identity as belonging to both countries, regardless of appearances.

Misael’s work defies a singular style or genre, but he gravitates toward authenticity, favoring natural light and real locations over studio setups. He values respect and equality on set, rejecting rigid hierarchies in favor of collaboration.

Driven by a deep sense of purpose, Misael views filmmaking as his calling. Inspired by his parents, Christopher Nolan, Ruben Östlund, anime, Haruki Murakami, and the Bible, he believes in the transformative power of art, which has profoundly shaped his own life. While his career began in advertising, his ultimate dream is to create meaningful, cinematic feature films. Confident in his path, he envisions a future as a movie director — and perhaps even an Oscar winner.

In his free time, Misael enjoys immersing himself in nature, swimming in cold waters, and watching both great and not-so-great films. Above all, he cherishes moments with his friends and loved ones.

Misael does what he does because he believes he was born to tell stories.
